William Loren Katz’s Print collection is made up of 230 antique engravings, which he discovered during his extensive travels to conduct research for books like Black Indians and The Black West. The collection, which includes color and black and white images, is available for purchase.
The William Loren Katz Collection
If you are interested in doing research based on his work, you are welcome to go through his papers including his manuscripts, published articles, unpublished manuscripts, and much primary source material that created his 40 books. His archive is located at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture.
His collection is accessible to the public in their reading room. Through making an appointment at the Schomburg, you will be able to review his material and have a window into historical documents, sources of his books and his approaches to uncovering this hidden history.
